WITH AN EIGHTH AND NINTH PLACE FINISH AT THE SOLIDARITY GP OF BARCELONA, THE 2024 SEASON COMES TO AN END FOR THE SYNC SPEEDUP RIDERS
With the Barcelona Charity Grand Prix, the curtain falls on an emotional, challenging, and unforgettable 2024 Moto2 season. For the Sync SpeedUp team, the final round concluded with a double top 10 finish: Alonso López and Fermín Aldeguer secured eighth and ninth place respectively.
Aldeguer, starting from the sixth row and hampered by a long lap penalty, once again showcased his talent and determination, finishing ninth and bidding farewell to the SpeedUp Team after three years of growth and success together. López, despite a less-than-brilliant race, crossed the line in eighth place.
Summing up the season, the Sync SpeedUp team finished second in the team standings with 10 podiums and 359 points.
In detail, rider #54 achieved a total of 3 wins (Spanish GP, German GP, Australian GP), 1 second place (Dutch GP), 1 third place (Americas GP), and 3 pole positions (Spanish GP, Dutch GP, Australian GP). Rider #21 ended the year with 1 win (Qatar GP), 1 second place (Austrian GP), and 3 third places (French GP, Italian GP, Indonesian GP).
The young talent from Murcia, who finished fifth in the overall standings with 181 points, is now gearing up for his MotoGP debut. Over his three years with SpeedUp, he has grown both as a rider and as a person, and we are confident that his talent and determination will continue to shine in the premier class. Alonso, on the other hand, with 178 points and a sixth-place finish in the standings, is already looking ahead to 2025 with ambition and determination, ready to aim even higher alongside the SpeedUp family.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 8th
“The race wasn’t the best. I had no grip and it was difficult for me to advance as I would have liked. I end the year with a sixth place in the standings, which is not what I worked for but I am sure that with my team we can achieve the result we deserve in 2025”.
FERMÍN ALDEGUER #54: 9th
“I can’t put into words how I feel right now. On the one hand, I’m thrilled, because I’ll soon be riding a Ducati for the first time; on the other hand, however, I’m leaving a part of me. I grew up and matured together with Team SpeedUp. I came here when I was still a minor, with a great desire to prove my worth. In these years, I’ve grown and, together with my team, we’ve achieved important goals. I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all the people who have been close to me and who have accompanied me along this journey. I close this chapter with tears in my eyes, but also with a big smile, proud of what we’ve built in three years. Now it’s time to show who I am in MotoGP”.
